PROTECT CAYUGA LAKE'S LAND FROM BEING SOLD BY ONE OF THE WORLD'S MOST NOTORIOUS MULTINATIONAL CONGLOMERATES.
ACT NOW TO ENSURE THE STATE OF NEW YORK DOES ITS JOB.

Cayuga Lake, the longest and widest of the Finger Lakes, provides drinking water for at least 100,000 people and serves as an economic driver for numerous recreational activities for locals and tourists in one of the most treasured regions of New York. At a time when climate change is impacting all our lives and threatening freshwater supplies, Cayuga Lake is a vital natural resource that must be protected.

But the future of Cayuga Lake is at risk. Cargill, a multinational and private conglomerate that has been designated as “the worst company in the world” known for environmental degradation across he globe, is exploring selling its rights to the land around and under Cayuga Lake to the highest bidder — with no regulatory oversight and no regard for the community that depends on this critical resource.

A coalition of community leaders, environmental groups, residents and local businesses has mobilized to demand New York Governor Hochul to stop this secret sale.  We call on her and the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation to require a full, independent environmental review of the mine, and for Cargill or a future buyer to post a $10B environmental bond  to ensure adequate funding to mitigate the many unknown environmental risks.

We hope you'll join us.  Together, we can -- and must -- protect Cayuga Lake.
